We are Iakovos Nikolaou and Sylvia Jagtman and we live with our daughter Mikaela in the picturesque village of Pythagorion on the south coast of Samos.
Together we run our travel agency, which is specialized in scuba dive travel and - ofcourse - Pure Samos Experiences! We consider living on Samos a privilege. The breathtaking nature, endless possibilities, rich history and the diversity in culture, nature and people are things we really like to share with others. We strive to give our clients the best possible Samos experiences by sharing with them our passion and knowledge about the island.
Iakovos is a 'Pure' Samian. He was born in the city of Karlovasi on the northwest coast of the island. Although his life and architecture studies have led him away from the island for longer periods of time, he returned in 1996 to his roots.
Iakovos can be found in the office from time to time, but chances are bigger you will meet him somewhere outside. And if he is not working, he tries to devide his time between diving, seafood hunting (with or without his speargun) and Greek Mezes! He favours the wet side of Samos and as a result, there are not many spots that he hasn't seen!
Iakovos is a certified sailor and takes care of the logistics in the office. He speaks Greek, English and a bit of German and Romanian.
Sylvia was born in The Netherlands and worked there as an independent communication professional. She fell in love with Samos during a sabbatical year of travel. When she met Iakovos in 2000, she moved permanently to the island.
Since living on Samos she has been working in the tourist and organisation industry and developed a strong bond with the fertile soil, the traditions and the way of living on Samos. She loves to explore the island and it's possibilities and creates Samian specialties, sweets and biological soaps with their own virgin olive oil, natural herbs and other organic produce from the island. She is a certified professional Olive Oil Expert, one of the few in Greece and the only one on Samos!
Sylvia takes care of the office and the experiences offered. She speaks Dutch, English, Greek, German and can still remember a bit of French.
